I love cats. There’s one cute ginger tomcat that wakes me up every morning with his meow Feed me, Pet me. Although he treats me like I’m his servant I adore him to bits. I’d bite my husband’s head off if he would even think of behaving like our cat does. On the other hand my husband sometimes complains that I’m much nicer to our cat than I am to him 🙂 . But that’s normal for cats and cat parents and if you’re a dog person then you can’t understand this special relationship between the so-called cat owner and their pet. Sadly, our cat can’t join me on my travels (however,there are some cool cats that travel with their servants 🙂 ) which means that I have to leave him in the loving hands of his cat grandparents (e.g. my parents). He likes spending time in their place and they adore having him around. But for some reason or another I often seem to come across cats on my travels. And what do I do then? I take a picture of that foreign cat and try to pet it. And in that moment I miss my cat and wish that he could travel with me.

So, I wanted to show you photos of the cats that I came across on my trips. I didn’t go through all of my photos (just the most recent ones) because then this post would never happen. Some of the cats that I encountered were someone’s pets while others were street cats. I saw some in the streets while others in the park or at a historic monument and some even showed up outside my hotel room.

  3. What a wonderful collection of cats – I adore both cats and dogs and have almost always had both sharing my life. Currently we have 4 cats (although one is a wanderer and can go off for weeks on end) and just one dog. Love them to bits 🙂

  4. Like you I am a big cat fan, we have a farm cat called Penguin who is very much loved and lives in a little house of her own under the eaves of our house. She was a stray that just turned up years ago, we fed her and she never left. Growing up there was always a cat in my house, some of the ones in your photos remind me our ours over the years.

  5. Hi Tanja, what lovely cat pictures. Cats have only recently become part of our life as we’ve always been dog people. Now it’s safe to say that I’ve become quite fond of our no-longer-feral cat and her kitten.

  8. So cute! I’m admittedly not a cat person, and having never owned a cat, I don’t fully understand that special bond between cat parents and their children. But these cats are so cute!! I love the French cat from St.Paul-de-Vence – it reminds me a lot of my friend’s cat who came from Provence, who is such a fun and affectionate cat that they’re starting to grow on me 🙂

    When we were in Marrakesh, we came across lots of street cats – but moreso, street kittens! They were adorable!

    1. I’m glad you like them. Cats can be so adorable and yet so independent and you can’t really cuddle them whenever you want. You can only cuddle them when they want it!:)

  11. Have you ever been to Puerto Rico? There are hundreds of cats when you walk the path near the ocean in front of the old fort. They just live in the rocks. I did an Ironman 70.3 race down there and we ran on that path. I saw a few cats that day but when we went back for a leisurely stroll the next day they were everywhere! Also, I have been to Ile St Marguerite, too!
