LIEBSTER AWARD

I was so delighted when I got an e-mail from lovely Cass from Cass Travels asking me whether I’d be happy to receive a nomination for a Liebster Award. Of course, I said yes! So, what is a Liebster Award? Well, it’s an award given by bloggers to bloggers in a recognition of their blog. It’s usually given to new(ish) blogs and it’s a great way to get to know new blogs &their bloggers. Once you receive it you need to answer 11 questions posed by the person who nominated you and then you need to nominate other 11 bloggers and come up with 11 new questions for them.

So, here are my answers to Cass’s questions:

  1. If time and money weren’t a consideration, where would you go?

New York City with my BFF 🙂 After that a trip to Australia and New Zealand with my hubby, then … well, there are MANY far away places that I’d like to visit so I guess I need to win some serious money on the lottery! 🙂

  1. What’s your best ‘you’ll never believe what happened…’ travel story?

I think I’ve got a few 🙂 Would you believe that I travelled to Turkey by train? It only took us 36 hours to get to Istanbul. Or when I travelled to Greece by boat? It was only 30 h journey on the boat (but we also needed a bus and a train to get to Venice first and then again the train to get from Patras to Athens). I saw the Queen in Scotland too :).

  1. What do you have planned for 2016?

Travel: London. It’s been too long since I’ve visited it last so that’s definitely in the cards. And I’ve already booked the flights and the hotel for our Stockholm weekend trip!:) For other destinations check out my post.

Blog related: More presence on social media. I’ve only got my blog’s Facebook page and I’m on Bloglovin’ too. I’d like to open a Twitter account and perhaps also Instagram but I honestly don’t think that I have the time & energy to do that much. I’d rather focus on writing  new posts &reading other blogs.

Life related: This one’s hard. 2016 didn’t start well but I hope that things could only get better now.

  1. What would you choose for your last meal?

A cake! 🙂 Any kind would do really! Or a bar of chocolate 🙂

  1. When you’re not blogging, what are you up to?

All the usual stuff: spending time with my husband, working, cooking, playing with my cat, occasionally playing badminton, meeting my friends, reading and of course travelling!

  1. If you could have a super power, what would it be?

Be invisible or fly?:) What I’d really like is to keep my family healthy and safe.  Is there such a super power?

  1. What’s your spirit animal?

I have no idea. So,  I took this quiz  (http://www.spiritanimal.info/your-spirit-animal ) and it turns out I’m a butterfly (what a coincidence , I recently posted about Butterfly House in Vienna). However, my husband believes that I was a cat in my previous life because apparently I’ve got a lot in common with our cat. 🙂

  1. What was the last thing you cooked?

Beef soup! Home-made soups are the best, right?

  1. Where are you now?

@ home.  And where’s that? Well, that’s in Croatia 🙂

  1. What is your favourite place in the world?

London. England. 🙂

Bath
Bath
  1. Beach, city or mountains?

Well, I live in a seaside town and there are a lot of nice beaches nearby. I love sea and spending time at the beach. But as I grew older I began to appreciate the mountains too. However, I feel best in a city so I guess I’d choose city.

So, that was all about me. Now, I’ve got the privilege to nominate another group of great blogs and here they are:

I nominate these 11 blogs:

Urska from Slovenian Girl Abroad who writes about Switzerland and about her travels

I love reading blogs about London /by London-based  bloggers so here’s a lovely new blog LondonGirlLost2015

She has travelled widely and she’s living an expat life in England, so check Debbie’s blog Buisson International

I recently discovered this lovely blog too solosophie

This is another London aficionado like me and she’s been very kind to me when I just started my blog five months ago My Journey

A Hungarian who likes London too and has nice posts Follow the sun

She’s got great photos& great stories Travels and Tomes

Another lovely new blog by a London-based blogger Sarah Pratley

I admire this blogger so much Travelling the World Solo

If you like history & travel then check this blog out Perspeculor

Well, I’m a teacher too (just one of my jobs currently) so I nominate this lovely blog The Travelling Teacher

And here are my questions for the nominated bloggers :

What or who inspired you to start your own blog?

Do you have advice for someone who wants to start their blog?

What blogs do you follow/particularly like?

What are your travel plans for this year?

Have you ever done Airbnb?

Who is your best travel partner?

Is there something you’d never do on your travels? e.g sleep in a tent, eat a scorpion or?

If you could choose any career what would it be?

What’s your dream destination?

Have you got a pet?

What’s the best dessert you’ve ever had on your travels?

Again, big thanks to Cass for nominating me and I’m looking forward to reading answers from the bloggers I nominated. Could you please let me know when you do it? You could leave a comment here with the link to your post?

  1. I have been browsing online more than 3 hours today, yet
I never found any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me.
Personally, if all website owners and bloggers made
good content as you did, the internet will be much more useful than ever before.

  2. Some interesting responses that say a lot about you. Nice to see a Croatian blogger, I haven’t seen many in the blogosphere! Sea or Mountains – I think the combination is actually the best, which is why I love Croatia and South Africa. We spent 3 months in Croatia last year and I think you have a beautiful country with some unique history.

  3. Congrats on the Liebster! 🙂 Great post! You said you’ve a Facebook page for your blog… Can I ask how that’s going? Do you feel like it’s brought you more blog traffic? I’m just wondering coz I’m not on social media and don’t really want to be. But sometimes I think that maybe I should try to promote my blog on Twitter and Facebook. I just don’t know how that would go. How do tweets fit with blog posts? Would I just tweet photos? Who would follow my blog on Facebook? Would WordPress followers like to follow it in two places? Would I pester all my FB friends to befriend my blog’s Facebook page even if they’re not really interested? …Sorry for all the questions 🙂 Just really curious and would love to hear from someone who’s done it! Was it worth the trouble? Meanwhile, good luck and all the best for 2016! Hope it gets better for you, if it didn’t start well! 🙂

    1. Hi! Well, I only have Facebook not yet Twitter page. As far as I can see on other blogs, it pays to have a Twitter account. I don’t have my friends on my blog’s Facebook page, only other bloggers and ppl who stumbled upon it:) Usually ppl don’t follow you on WordPress and on Facebook, at least not in my case, and I too follow some blogs on WordPress, some on Bloglovin’ and some only on Facebook but for some that I really really like I double follow!:)I hope that was helpful! is it worth it? I really don’t know. But all the big blogs have all the social media available so I guess if you want to have a lot of followers you should do as much you can. I’ll try to open Twitter and maybe even Instagram but not at the moment, maybe I change my mind and don’t do it cause it takes a lot of time:)

      1. Thanks 😉 Appreciate hearing about it! I tried Bloglovin’ but had so many technical problems that I got tired and logged off. Also tested Pinterest but didn’t know how to get followers – probably I just gave up too quickly! True, all the big blogs have accounts evenrywhere… Hmm, thinking about it! 🙂 Good luck!
