Monthly blog overview: February 2018

Carnival in Rijeka 2018
Carnival in Rijeka, Croatia

February. I started off the month as a co-host for Monthly Travel Linkup run by Emma from Adventures of a London Kiwi, Angie from SilverSpoon London and Polly from Follow Your Sunshine. There’s a new topic and a different co-host every month. I’ve been a co-host once before already. You can check that post here. February’s theme was once in a lifetime experiences. It’s hard not to get jealous when you read about some of the experiences described in those posts. But it doesn’t mean that your experiences aren’t special enough if you haven’t seen the Northern Lights or had a close encounter with a lion. My favourite posts were:Why travelers need to quit the once in a lifetime mentality , Once in a lifetime wildlife destinations and My iconic travel moments.

February was a fickle month here regarding the weather. It was unusually warm and then it snowed at the end of the month. Luckily, it was sunny and not too cold for the International Carnival Parade in Rijeka so we went with baby V. and saw a couple of masked groups. We didn’t do anything special for Valentine’s Day though. We just ordered in a pizza and gave our baby a bath. We’ve submitted in the papers for baby V.’s ID so we can travel 🙂 As soon as it’s finished we’re taking a day trip to Italy. A proper trip is still being planned, destinations and means of transport weighed in until I can make a final decision.

What have you done in February?

  1. I loved the post on why travelers shouldn’t consider their experiences “once in a lifetime”, how it limits you and prevents you from truly experiencing a place. I didn’t know you were co-hosting the link up, though! Kudos to you! Co-hosting can be intense and you have a baby!

Hope you have a fabulous one day trip to Italy! And just know your American friends are jealous that that is even a thing you can do in Europe.

  2. So exciting that you’ve got your first holiday adventure lined up with your little one and the day trip to Italy sounds like a lovely way to get started Tanja 😊

  3. Seems many had a strange weather month in February. Chalk it up to global warming and climate change impacting weather patterns everywhere. February our house was being used by home exchange so we jumped on a plane for a one hour flight to India! This time we went to a new region for us… the East and the remote North East of Assam. Do stop by greenglobaltrek and check out our latest post…:) I will find you on instagram 🙂

Congrats on such an adorable wee one. And what fun he will have his own little passport. Many say that traveling with infants can be that much easier than older toddlers who are active and find it hard to sit still for long periods of time. So take advantage of sleeping nursing baby while you still can…

  4. We got Baby A’s passport a few weeks ago, which made me so excited! Our plans are still up in the air for when we’ll be outside the country, though, as there’s been a big shake-up at my husband’s job.

It’s been quiet for me this month, too, in terms of writing and travel, but I am itching for spring, summer, and fall (my favorites) to arrive so that I can make up for the quiet times at home during winter!
