Veliki Tabor Castle in Croatia
September. For me the real beginning of a year is the start of a school year, not the festive celebrations of January 1. And as usually, this September was yet again another new beginning for me. I’ve joined yoga classes. Painful is the word I’d use to describe everything I do during a yoga class but that’s because I’ve got a rubbish back. Unfortunately, no matter how cute babies are, it’s not easy to lift and carry a baby all the time. My boy is big and restless so holding him is like trying to close a can of wriggly worms. And no, I can’t relax and meditate at the end of my yoga class because all I can think when my yoga instructor says feel the love is pain. But that’s okay. I know yoga does me good.
I’ve started to work after maternity leave too (actually 2 moths earlier, you can take one year off here). It’s just two days in a week but it’s more than enough for me right now. I have no idea how other mothers work every day and take care of their children and cook and blog and do million other things. I guess I’ll learn. I’ve recently been to Italy because of my other job. That was the first time that I’ve been away from my baby boy. He survived. He had a lot of fun with his dad and his grandparents. He didn’t seem to have missed me at all. On the other hand, I worried too much and I didn’t sleep through the night as I’d hoped. I can’t believe my boy will be 1-year-old soon. He’s already taken a few steps on his own. He’ll be walking quite soon.
Big beach in Baška on island Krk
August was a month of beach time and relaxation. My husband had two weeks off work so we spent most of that time on island Krk. I shared a couple of photos from our holiday on Instagram. We visited town Krk and the big beach in Baška. We also left the island for dinner one day and had a very delicious meal in Fužine in Gorski kotar region of Croatia. Apart from that there were a couple of board gaming nights and dates with my friends.
Baby V. is great. He’s growing all the time. He’s now almost 10 months old. He really enjoyed the beach time. We’ve even been to a couple of concerts with him 🙂 We’ve planned a couple of more day trips but the weather made us postpone our plans.
in San Marino this year
It’s been three years since I pressed publish on the very first post of The Red Phone Box travels. And here I am still blogging about my travels (and occasionally about my life & baby). THANK YOU for sticking around!:) Thank you for all your wonderful comments and likes and shares whether you’re following my blog via WordPress or as an email subscriber or if you’re following me on Bloglovin‘. Thank you also for following my blog on its social media channels Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google+ . Cheers to you all!
What has happened in my third year of travel blogging? Well, a bit of travel and a whole lot of everything else!:) I was pregnant and then I gave birth and now I spend my days chasing after an adorable and already mischievous 9 and a half month old baby who crawls at the speed of light! But hey, I can’t complain!:) You can find a few baby posts on my blog but it is still very much a travel blog where I share stories from my past and current travels. Some of my posts are more personal while some are more informative but I enjoyed writing them all. Since we’ve become a family we went on several trips with our baby boy V. We visited a lot of places in Croatia but I haven’t blogged about that. I did blog about our first day trip abroad to Udine in Italy and I still need to finish all my posts about our amazing trip to wonderful but tiny San Marino.
my happy place:)
And just like that we’re entering the second half of 2018. What has happened in June? A lot. We took baby V. to the beach for the first time. He loved playing with the pebbles at the beach and he absolutely loved the sea. He’s going to be a proper sea baby! Other baby news are that he’s got two teeth now and that he’s already standing. He’s been crawling everywhere and only a few days after he sat for the first time he started to push himself upright to stand. It’s funny to see him standing in his baby bed in the morning.
I went to the cinema for the first time since giving birth. We watched Solo: A Star Wars Story film and even though I didn’t like the film very much I enjoyed being in the cinema after so long. My best friend returned home for holidays from China so there’s been a few proper grown up outings. Yay!
You might have seen a couple of photos from Miramare Castle ( Trieste, Italy ) on my Instagram account and a photo post here on the blog. We had to attend to some family business in Trieste so we popped over to the castle. I’ve blogged about Rimini, the last stop of our San Marino road trip but I still haven’t had enough time or inspiration to write in detail about our visit to beautiful San Marino. After a long time I published a post about London remembering some of my quirky adventures in my beloved city. Honestly, I don’t know when I’ll go to London again.
hello from San Marino! now I just need to find time to blog about it 🙂
I’ve changed the name of my monthly blog overview post into Life & blog update because that title suits better the actual content of these monthly posts since I share in them snippets of my life and remind you of my published posts in the previous month.
May was a busy month. BBQs with friends, a couple of board gaming nights, drinks with my besties and a first dinner out with our baby. We were so lucky and got a waiter that entertained our baby boy during most of the meal. Our friend became a dad recently so we’re looking forward to meeting his baby girl.
Our baby boy V. is now almost 7 months old and he’s recently started crawling properly. But being a mum isn’t just about happy moments. My first ever Mother’s Day as a mum was a low point.
Our first day trip abroad with our baby was to Udine, Italy
April was quite an eventful month. Easter was as usually spent with the family but on Easter Monday we took our baby boy V. to Krk island for the first time. We walked by the sea and came across a giant Easter Egg (check my Instagram account for a photo) and we also saw some locals dancing and singing to some traditional music. That was an unexpected encounter. My aunt and my cousin came to see our baby for the first time and brought gifts. We finally took our planned day trip to Italy with baby V. and it was such a great day. I’ll blog more about our Sunday in lovely Udine but for now you can check my photo post.
What else happened in April? After putting in the new floors in the kitchen and in the both hallways we decided to put them in the living room too. It amazes me how floors can actually transform the look of the entire house. One of my best friends celebrated her birthday so I finally put on some make-up and a dress and enjoyed a wonderful dinner with my friends without the baby. We ended the month in the same way as we’d started it, on the island Krk, having a BBQ with friends and enjoying a sunny weekend by the sea.
Unfortunately my cat got quite sick. He’s got a serious case of cat’s flu. But after getting several shots at the vet’s and some antibiotics he’s feeling better slowly.
snowy day 1 March
March. It snowed in my seaside hometown on 1st of March. Snowed!!! Of course, I had to take my baby out so I could take his photos with the snow, his first snow 🙂 By the end of the day it started to rain and all the snow melted away. Just like that. My baby was sick also. He had cold and I wasn’t prepared for that, for him to have a fever and all. It kind of shocked me. Nothing during pregnancy and labour frightened me as much as seeing my four and a half month old baby sick. I know, he’s going to be sick a hundred more times but this was the first time and firsts can be scary. On another note he tried his first solid food with success. I was so proud!:) Sorry for all this baby talk.
What else happened this month? We put in the new floors at the end of the month and I finally booked our hotel for our first family trip at the end of May! Can’t wait! We’re going to San Marino! So if you’ve been and have any advice, do share!
On my blog I went down the memory lane and wrote about my visit to Imperial Carriage Museum in Vienna and my day trip to Ipswich among other things. Sometimes I feel like I should stop blogging until I travel again. Well….
How did you spend Easter weekend?
