Life & blog update: June… was a travel filled month but there were also some difficult moments. I travelled internationally twice in June, to Helsinki (Finland) at the beginning of the month and to Padova (Italy) at the end of the month. There was also a 4-day beach holiday on Krk island, Croatia with kids. So, lots of travelling in June.
I’ve already shared a photo post from my Helsinki trip. It was a great trip and I’m so glad that I finally met in person my Finnish friend. We met through blogging but bonded over our similar life situation (young kids, worked in similar fields previously). My friend showed me around Helsinki and I met her family too. I’ve also walked around Helsinki on my own and ate some local sweet treats. Helsinki is a rather interesting city and I especially enjoyed our short ferry trip to Suomenlinna island and a very colourful Samba parade. I was impressed by an unusual Church in the Rock and I’ve even had the privilege of listening to a free piano concert whilst visiting it (it was a rehearsal, I guess ).
My husband bought tickets for Rammstein concert in Padova, Italy almost a year ago. So, that’s why we visited Padova at the end of June/beginning of July. Of course, we did some sightseeing too and had excellent gelato, pizza and Aperol Spritz.
June is a proper summer month in Croatia with warm sea, excellent for swimming. As usually, we spent a holiday weekend on Krk island and kids really enjoyed our beach time. We have our longer summer holidays in August but of course almost every weekend during summer is a beach weekend.
My cat is all right, fully recovered and running around again like nothing has happened.
We had several birthday celebrations in June, some kid’s birthday parties and a fun bowling birthday event for adults only. But there was also a death at the end of the month. I have no idea how I’d feel when the time comes to attend my parents’ funeral.
Reading this post you’d think that I had a great June. And I did. However, I’ve also felt quite exhausted, sleep deprived, anxious, upset and generally very stressed because of work. There’s no perfect job but I feel that this job is taking its toll on me and it shouldn’t be like that.
Lately, all I post are monthly update posts, photo posts from my most recent trips and door post but I have no time nor energy to write proper travel posts. But I hope to get back to real travel blogging from September. Though, there might be some travel posts during summer after all.
How was your June? What are your plans for summer?

I’m hoping to visit Suomenlinna island next time I’m in Finland (which I’m hoping won’t be too long away). Funny we were both in Helsinki in June!

Here, summer is cancelled. Goddamn cold and gonna be all July, apparently. It was warmer during your visit, so you timed it well!

Travel (even fun travel) can take a lot out of you, as can a job that doesn’t quite feel right. I hope you have an easy month ahead.

Finland, Italy, and the beach sound like a great way to spend a month. Here’s hoping that the not so great parts of the month work themselves out to something better.

Despite work stress, you certainly made the most out of the beginning of summer! It’s incredible you got to go to Helsinki and discover the Scandinavian north– as well as venture south to Italy; you definitely covered the north and south of Europe in one month! Wishing you a more-relaxing summer ahead!

Life can get very busy in this stage of life, Tanja. You must pace yourself to minimise the stress. Again I am so happy you were able to connect through friendship and blogging and see the beautiful city of Helsinki in summer! Blogging will always be here when you have time to write. Writing good posts take time but when the urge happens to write, it can be done in a jiffy!
