My husband and I spent a short weekend with friends in Padua, Italy at the beginning of July. The main reason of our visit was a heavy metal concert for our husbands and Aperol spritz and catching up for my best friend and me. We all just wanted to enjoy some fine Italian food and drinks with a bit of sightseeing on the side. Since I’ve already visited Padua as a student, I was fairly familiar with Padua’s main sights.
Padua or Padova in Italian is a rather beautiful, university city with interesting sights such as the 5th largest square in Europe (square with sculptures Prato della Valle) and Basilica of St. Anthony. There are plenty of other churches, gorgeous doors, porticoes and much more. Unfortunately, even on my second visit to charming Padua I didn’t have the time to visit the oldest Botanical garden in whole of Europe. But I was too busy gulping down excellent gelato and delicious pizza and drinking Aperol spritz because there’s no Aperol Spritz like Aperol Spritz in Italy (you get free snacks with it, such as crisps or peanuts or some other savory snacks). Furthermore, we found the price of food and drinks to be pretty much the same as in Croatia or even cheaper (prices in Croatia have gone up since the introduction of EURO as national currency).
Padua is a great weekend break. The city is small and walkable and all the major sights are close to each other. There’s really no pressure to see it all like in Florence and Rome so you have enough time to indulge in a bit of dolce vita.

It appears Padua isn’t as touristy as the big Italian cities of Rome, Florence, or Venice, but it’s just as gorgeous as the rest of them! I can imagine it’s a great alternative, as it has the canals and architecture reminiscent of those in Florence and Venice. Glad you had a wonderful time there!

I have but can’t remember but except it was winter ☺️ Loved the photos and the snacks with the aperol spritz – as it should be!! (Here also no snacks). Door nr 53 intrigues me: is it a store, daycare, home, air bnb…?
