Life & blog update: October 2023 was…a mixed feelings kind of a month. But more about that later. October was still pretty much like summer, at least in the first half of the month. It was still possible to swim in the sea. Instead, we opted for bike rides and strolls by the sea. For me, sea was a bit cold and I was ready for some autumn activities.
There were a couple of board game nights with friends and a lot of playdates for kids during October. Speaking of games, we spent one rainy Sunday playing 13 different board games with our kids. It was pretty great! As usually, my husband went to Essen, Germany to attend Spiel Essen, the biggest board game convention in Europe. We’re definitely taking the kids there soon. It has got a lot of fun family activities for kids.
Tooth fairy visited my son again because his second tooth fell out. Do you also have this tradition of a tooth fairy leaving money under kid’s pillow for the fallen tooth? My daughter is too wise for her age. I didn’t expect to get clever comebacks from a 4 year old. I have no idea how we’ll survive her teen years.
Last month I hinted about a big decision. It was a right decision but it wasn’t an easy decision. I resigned. Halloween was my last day at the office. I’m currently officially unemployed. I need some time off to recuperate, relax and to figure out what I wanted to do next. I’d like to have the guts to finally turn my passions into profit but we’ll see.
I’ve featured two guest posts in October. Thank you Rebecca and Louise for your wonderful posts. Please check out their guest post and their blogs if you haven’t done it yet.

All those board games in one day, I think I’d be exhausted but it sounds good fun. Hope whatever you decide to do next career wise works for you (I’m sure it will).

Resigning from work is a big decision, but seems like the right choice, especially if the job was unfulfilling. I hope you take this time to recuperate and figure out your next steps going forward! Things are (sort of) cooling down here in California, although it’s still been quite warm throughout October. Wishing you a wonderful upcoming holiday season. 🙂

Yes, we also get regular visits from the Tooth Ferry! Our friends live in Spain where instead of Tooth Ferry they get visits from a mouse called Perez. Like the Tooth Fairy, Perez also collects baby teeth but instead of money, children are given a gift. I love hearing about such amazing traditions from around the world! Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx

13 board games in a day – were the kids able to concentrate through them all? 😅 Ours play 1-2 games nicely, then it’s full mayhem

Yes, but we had breaks for lunch, some cartoons and then again games🙂
