House of MinaLima: A Magical Harry Potter Art Gallery in London

Are you a die-hard Harry Potter fan planning a trip to London? If so, you can’t miss the enchanting art gallery and shop House of MinaLima. This one of a kind art gallery is located in central London, in Soho.

House of MinaLima is a creative collaboration between Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima, the graphic artists behind the captivating designs in the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films. Hogwart’s letter, the Marauder’s Map and the Daily Prophet are just some of their many designs from Harry Potter films.

Our visit to House of MinaLima

I saw a couple of blog posts about this unusual art gallery a couple of years ago so I put it on my ever growing London bucket list since I love Harry Potter books and movies. We visited House of MinaLima in December 2023. It wasn’t difficult to find it because it is not far from Oxford Circus and the department store Liberty. Luckily, there weren’t a lot of people inside during our visit so we were able to enjoy this wondrous art gallery/shop at a leisurely pace. Besides different limited edition art prints, books and all sorts of stationery visitors can see some of the original artwork and props from the Harry Potter and Fantastic beasts movies. Everything was decorated with festive lights and tinsel and there was a beautiful Christmas tree as well.

Walking around House of MinaLima felt like being on a film set. It was a rather magical experience. I liked best the fireplace with the Hogwarts acceptance letters. Why didn’t I get my letter for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry? Anyway, I don’t want to go in too much detail about what wonderful things you can see in House of MinaLima because I don’t want to spoil your visit. However, I’ll just say that if you want to buy something as a special souvenir from your London trip, it won’t be cheap. I opted for a surprise bag which cost 10 pounds. It was a great value. You don’t know what’s inside a surprise bag but I relied on my sense of touch and opted for a Hufflepuff unlucky dip bag even though I’m a Gryffindor because it felt like it had a notebook or a diary inside. And I wasn’t wrong! There were 4 items in my Hufflepuff surprise bag including a large hardcover notebook, postcards and two badges.

Even though my husband isn’t really a Harry Potter fan, we both enjoyed our visit to wonderful House of MinaLima.

  10. How lovely! I grew up reading and watching Harry Potter books and movies, and I’ve been to the Harry Potter theme park in Universal Studios and Platform 9-3/4 in London. Although I’ve sort of grown out of Harry Potter, the House of MinaLima looks fantastic and worth a pop in. Thanks for sharing, Tanja!

I love how this small boutique shop and gallery in the Soho neighbourhood allows you to step into the Wizarding World through prints, illustrated books, and props from the Harry Potter movies.
