Snapshots from Budapest is a short, photo overview post of our December family trip to Budapest. We’ve spent 3 festive days exploring Budapest with our kids. This wasn’t my first time in Budapest so I knew quite well what to show to my husband and our two kids. Of course, I had to take into account that my 5 year old daughter and my 7 year old son won’t probably be interested that much into a lot of sightseeing but in the end we’ve managed to see practically everything on my list. We’ve also spent plenty of time at playgrounds and bribed our kids several times with hot chocolate and other sweets from the Christmas markets. Nevertheless, we’ve explored Budapest on foot, by river boat, tram and bus. I was quite happy because I also got to spend some alone time perusing the stalls at Christmas markets while my kids had fun ride on the mini garden train at Vorosmarty Christmas market. Furthermore, they’ve also particularly liked the river boat cruise and the Ferris Wheel ride. We didn’t visit any museums.
In conclusion, we’ve all enjoyed our long weekend in Budapest.
Day 1: in the photos below from left to right: New York cafe, Lego tram near Deak square, Dohány Street Synagogue, Ferris Wheel, Fashion street

some stalls at Vorosmarty Christmas market

Day 2: Danube river cruise, funicular up to Castle hill, going up to Fishermen’s bastion, coat of arms of Croatian-Hungarian union

still day 2: views of Budapest from Castle Hill, playground near the Ferris Wheel, stalls at Deak Ferenc square Christmas market

Day 3: Central market hall, Liberty bridge, Rubik’s cube shop, the Parliament, the Chain bridge

I hope that you’ve enjoyed this photo overview of our family trip to Budapest. I’ll blog more in detail about our trip later on. Have you ever visited Budapest?

Lovely selection. Looking forward to your future posts! I’ve been to Budapest twice, when backpacking around Europe in my early 20s. I enjoyed going to the spa at the Hotel Gellert. The coat of arms is really cool, BTW!

Thanks. I am glad you visited Budapest. I had spa day at Gellert too during my first trip to Budapest, it was also in my mid 20s lol

How lovely and festive! I’ve been to Budapest twice, but after the holiday season…nevertheless, it’s such a beautiful city, and it’s one of my favorites I’ve visited in Europe! Glad you got to visit it with your family, Tanja 🙂
