I decided to change a bit my life & blog update posts and to publish them less frequently. I’ll post them every two months or once in three months or whatever schedule suits me best at the time.
So, let’s look back at my January firstly. We celebrated New Year’s at friends’. It was all right as new year’s parties go. Kids had lots of fun and we ate way too much. January wasn’t full of exciting events. It was a month of some tough decisions and some family issues. Kids had some medical check-ups too but luckily all is well. We had a fun day out on Platak. My free weekend finally coincided with some snow so kids got to enjoy some sledding and playing around in the snow. I went with kids to the night at the museum event and we saw an interesting football exhibition.
February was all about the carnival and costumes and masks. This year my son participated for the first time in the kid’s carnival parade in Rijeka and in Opatija. He was in his school’s group and they had a great choreography and a fish costume. We watched him dance in the streets with his friends braving the cold and the wind. Despite the weather, he enjoyed it. Our kids also attended a few costumed parties and we even won a tombola raffle with some great prizes for the kids. There were also a few kid’s birthdays in the past two months so we even spent Valentine’s at one of those. After a long time, my husband and I had a board game night without the kids.
I got to see the latest Bridget Jones movie with friends. It was lovely and we even had a free glass of champagne because it was special ladies night at the cinema. I like Bridget Jones movies even though I’ve outgrown them but they are still kind of comforting to me. I saw the latest Paddington movie with my kids too. I don’t know why kid’s movies have to be so fast-paced and action packed like adults’ movies. I got to see my best friends too and we finalized some last details for our upcoming trip.
As usually, January means posting a few overview posts such as looking back at the past year in terms of blog stats and mentioning the books I read. I managed to post a photography post of our December Budapest trip and I finally blogged about my Helsinki trip from 2023. If you have missed any of these posts, click below.

I’m really looking forward to the end of this month and my girls’ trip. I won’t say where we are going but it’ll be a city break somewhere in western Europe.
How was your January and February? Any exciting travel plans for spring?

A girls trip? Marvellous! I hope you’re having the best time and look forward to hearing all about it. I didn’t realise Croatia celebrates carnival, it gives me an idea to visit it one day

I agree. Kids movies are now so stimulating & action-packed that sometimes we forget this is meant for kids & not adults with fully developed brains. Well… most adults, that is. Anyways have a good day!

Thank you for keeping up with your blog as you see fit. I’m having a time just posting once a month. It’s tough this time of year to come up with something interesting when outside it’s just cold, sticks, and mud. I don’t have travel plans for spring, but perhaps later this year there’ll be a return to Japan. Keep warm! ☀️

I’ve outgrown Bridget Jones, too, but I used to be such a big fan! I don’t think I’ll see the new one, since you said in another conversation that it was a bit sad/nostalgic. I can’t deal with that kind of stuff at all!! 😁

Spring is just around the corner! After basically hibernating for January and February with work and more work, I’m finally going on some trips soon! Hope you enjoy your springtime and I look forward to your blog posts, whenever you decide to write!

I still feel like I’m in hibernation. Where are you travelling to? I’ll post less frequently these life update posts.
