Thursday doors: Amazing doors from Amsterdam

great church door, Amsterdam

Thursday doors: Amazing doors from Amsterdam is a blog post for all door enthusiasts.

I’ve recently returned from a girl’s trip to Amsterdam. We’ve spent a long weekend exploring Amsterdam on foot and by a canal boat. I’ve definitely fallen in love with Amsterdam. We’ve had a wonderful time together laughing and eating and shopping and taking photos of Amsterdam’s main sights and gorgeous houses. I was also very happy because I’ve found so many wonderful sweet treats to try, among others a very special stroopwaffel. I could have literally taken a photo of every single door in Amsterdam because they are all amazing but I actually managed to restrain myself and choose the very best for this and for the next door post.

So, enjoy these amazing doors from Amsterdam and stay tuned because soon I’ll be sharing some more amazing doors from Amsterdam and some wonderful doors from Delft too (also a city in the Netherlands).

  1. That sounds like a fun trip. I had to look up stroopwaffel, and I’m a little sad, looking at my morning snack. The doors are wonderful. I think my favorite photo is the one looking up at that entrance with the white door. I love the stained glass all around that entrance.

  2. I haven’t been back to Amsterdam in almost a decade, but I’d love to return! I especially liked the “fine arts valuations taxaties” door, as the wood finishing looks so smooth. Thanks for sharing, Tanja!

  3. What a fabulous post. I think my favourite is the fourth photo with the honey-coloured light pouring through the glass. How lovely it must be to be there. I have only been to Amsterdam once when I was four, so I look forward to your posts.

  4. They are all beautiful, Tanja. Your post reminds me that years ago I run across a paint swatch labelled “Amsterdam Green.” I figured it was just a made-up name but after my visit to Amsterdam, I realized that “Amsterdam Green” is very real. It is a green that is almost black and is used on almost every entry door in the city. The preferred paint job looks like lacquer, the glossier the better. Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx
