Looking to experience all the best bits of Europe? It can be tricky to know where to begin your trip and which countries to include on your itinerary, as there are so many coastal resorts, mountain towns, and vibrant cities to explore. Each country has its own merits and reasons for visiting, but there are a few that simply must be included in your plans for a well-rounded experience – Spain, Hungary, and Finland. To help inspire you, here’s what you can expect from each of these three stunning destinations.
Spain

With beautiful beaches and magnificent architecture, Spain is a destination you won’t want to skip.
Costa Blanca is a stunning coastline stretching from Denia to Torrevieja, boasting crystal-clear waters, stunning views and fine white sand. With many of its beaches Blue Flag approved, you can safely enjoy the water here, whether you’re exploring solo or with family or friends. Despite being a firm favourite for tourists, the beaches and coves remain unspoiled, clean and beautiful, with plenty of hidden gems just waiting to be explored.
Then, head to Seville, the southern Spanish capital, and delve into an endless sea of rich culture and history. See flamenco dancing, visit a fine art museum or discover incredible palaces such as the Alcázar de Sevilla, a filming location of popular TV series ‘Game of Thrones’. For a more secluded experience, the hillsides of Andalucía are speckled with quaint fishing villages offering spectacular views, whitewashed houses and yet more incredible beaches.
The northern capital city of Barcelona is a haven for those excited to try authentic Mediterranean food. In addition to exquisite architecture, the streets offer a multitude of tapas bars, cafés and restaurants, all serving fresh, sun-drenched local produce.
Hungary

As you sink into therapeutic thermal baths, taste fine wines and soak up the sun amidst romantic architecture, relaxation in Hungary is a guarantee.
Lake Balaton, also known as the Hungarian Sea, is well worth a visit. Home to over 1,000 natural springs, the waters are famous for their medicinal powers. Here, you can float amongst water lilies in the warm outdoor pool at the Héviz Spa, surrounded by idyllic woodland, just like the Romans did more than 2,000 years ago.
Budapest, Hungary’s capital city, is filled with things to do, including Roman ruins, medieval churches and a unique selection of awe-inspiring historical buildings. What better way to see everything than to take a ride on a dinner boat along the Danube river, where you can experience authentic Hungarian cuisine while watching the city light up around you.
There’s also a vibrant night-life scene to be found here. Dance the night away in the city’s vast selection of bohemian ‘ruin’ bars, rooftop cocktail bars and larger-than-life clubs.
Finland

Arguably the most popular reason to add Finland to your bucket list is to see the Northern Lights! But, aside from this humbling experience, there is so much beauty to be found in this country. With its rolling hills, snow-tipped mountains, thick forests and deep valleys, Finland delivers untouched landscapes beyond comparison.
A plus for campers, there is a ‘right to roam’ law here which allows you to set up a tent anywhere you like. There are 41 National Parks to explore, each full of wildlife and different terrain offering gentle walks, daring hikes, cycling, kayaking, diving and more.
Eating in Finland doesn’t disappoint, either. The local food is fresh and the dishes traditional. Taking what they need from the land and waters surrounding them, a typical meal here may be smoked fish served with lemon and dill.
In the era of made-for-me travel, travellers everywhere are planning trips that feel more personal. To ensure your experience is fulfilling, be sure to tailor your itinerary to suit your individual needs – but don’t forget to include Spain, Hungary, and Finland for an unforgettable trip.
