Life & blog update: January-March 2026 is my first life & blog update post in 2026 and it covers months from January to March. So, let’s go and do a short overview of the past three months. And mind you, 2026 is supposed to be an amazing year for a Sagittarius but I’ve already had some minor setbacks so I’m hoping for that astrological fortune to finally show up.
Travel
This year so far has been rather good regarding travel. I had a couple of interesting work trips. Though, it wasn’t fun when we were stranded in snow for hours on Slovenian motorway going back from Austria. My husband and I saw Tolkien’s exhibition in Trieste, Italy. It was quite interesting to learn more about Tolkien’s life. I really loved our ski holiday in Italy in January (the header photo is from that trip). We were staying actually quite close to Cortina d’Ampezzo where the Olympics were held later. But we didn’t visit it because all my kids wanted to do was to have some fun in the snow and then to go swimming in the swimming pool. However, we did walk around Sottuguda which is on the list of 100 most beautiful villages in Italy. I’ve visited Cinque Terre in March and you can read all about that here. We’ve also visited the ZOO in Ljubljana, Slovenia. It was a great day trip and my kids had lots of fun.
Life
Life happens, right? Kid’s play-dates, birthday parties, board game nights, the usual. However, I went on a rather engaging library tour with one of my best friends during museum night in January. February was all about the carnival here. We attended several kids’s carnival parties (costumed party) and of course we saw the kid’s carnival parade. We’ve also been to an international cat show and saw a lot of really pretty and expensive thoroughbred cats. I got another episode of my vertigo situation (BPPV). It wasn’t as scary as the first time back in August but still it’s a rather unpleasant experience. I’m still in a winter mode and lack any real motivation to get ahead with my career. Kids are getting along nicely and it’s my daughter that gives me headache for a change. She’s full of attitude for a 6 year old. I’ve booked us flights for our June trip with kids. It’s going to be their first time flying!
Blog
I didn’t blog as much as I’d hoped even though I have plenty of free time. On the other hand, my stats are over the roof. But most of those views/visits come from search engines and not WordPress so I don’t have as many interactions as I’d like. My old posts are getting these new views while I was disappointed to see that some newer posts in which I put a lot of effort didn’t get as many views as I’d anticipated. I need to write about my last year’s trips to Amsterdam and Venice.
So, that’s it for this life & blog update. See you again in June probably!
Happy April!
Happy Easter!
xoxo
Tanja

The exhibition on Tolkien sounds great! I feel like it is always tough to find motivation at this time of the year, but usually things get better once spring is finally there (here it has been showing its nose but hasn’t committed yet). I hope the next few months are great for you!

It sounds like you’ve had a busy few months (and getting stuck in that snowstorm doesn’t sound fun), but how wonderful you’ve had some travel adventures already in 2026. A Happy Easter to you too Tanja 🙂

Life happens, so it can be difficult to blog consistently. However, I’m glad you’re enjoying 2026 so far, and it’s wonderful you visited the Cinque Terre (especially when it’s less crowded/touristy)! Enjoy spring and hope to hear from you soon 😊

I’ve never been or even heard of Sottuguda, so I had to look it up, and it looks so beautiful with authentic wooden barns, artisanal crafts, and immediate access to dramatic nature. Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Happy Easter 🙂 Aiva xx

I know what you mean about the end of winter lack of motivation, I feel like Easter will be a great reset for us all. A happy- busy start to the year, anyway!
