Rovinj is a gorgeous seaside town in Istria, Croatia. It is quite popular among the tourists. It has interesting historical landmarks such as St. Euphemia’s Basilica and winding cobbled streets. It was under the Venetian rule for a while which is evident in the old town’s architecture. As in the rest of Istria you’ll find street names in Croatian and in Italian because this Croatian region is officially bilingual.
Rovinj has got plenty of charm and I’d definitely recommend to visit it. There are tiny islands and nice beaches around Rovinj as well. If you are visiting with kids then definitely visit two nearby aqua parks and a theme park with dinosaurs.

It looks utterly charming. I definitely would like to see it. Was it a walled city at one point. That white gate looks like it may have sealed off the town at one point in the past.

Rovinj looks a very pretty place Tanya. I’ve only visited Dubrovnik but would like to see more of Croatia.

This brings back nice memories of a family vacation that we once had here when our children were small (they’re in their 40s and 50s now).
From this morning’s newspaper I learned that Croatia has officially decided to adopt the Euro as its currency, starting next January 1st.

That’s nice. I guess there are a lot more tourist now then when you visited it. Yes, euro. Not a good timing, in the middle of the worldwide recession and rise in living costs

I’m afraid you’re right about the timing, but I imagine they have been negotiating this for a long time.
