in Trieste, Italy this year
I launched the Red Phone Box travels blog on 31st August 2015. I needed a distraction, a new hobby, a new audience for my travel stories. I am most grateful for all my followers and subscribers and new blogging friends. It was a wonderful experience to see my little travel blog grow over the past 2 years. I’m not an expat or someone who quit her/his job to travel the world. I’m just an ordinary person who is mad about travel and who despite somewhat limited resources manages to travel. Even if it’s just around Europe. Whether it’s a weekend break or one week holiday I always make the most of my trips. I try to cram in as much sightseeing as humanely possible and prefer to spend my money on attraction entrances and souvenirs than on fancy meals or luxurious hotels. I’d rather take two trips than stay at a really expensive place on just one trip. I prefer city travel to outdoor adventures even though as I grow old I find the countryside and the smaller towns more appealing. My travel history includes: backpacking trips, train journeys across half Europe, boat voyages that lasted over 30 hours and many other crazy things when I was slightly younger. Moreover I’ve stayed at cheap&dinky hostels but I’ve also experienced some luxury accommodation too. I travelled with my best friend, with a boyfriend, with a group of friends, with my husband and alone. Solo travel is great and I’d recommend it to everyone but I do find travelling with my best friend or my husband more fun. It’s always nicer when you can share your new experiences with someone else.
I’ve had a rough 2016 but still enjoyed immensely my trips to Stockholm and London and various other day trips and local trips. There weren’t a lot of travel plans for 2017 apart from a week in Germany visiting München and Neuschwanstein Castle. Those plans fell through and Germany is now still just another item on my bucket list. You see, we decided to cancel our travel plans because of my long-awaited pregnancy which finally happened. We couldn’t be more happier! Of course, we’ll need to focus now on the baby. But there are some travel ideas for the next year already on my mind! I want to travel as a family but I also want to travel just as a couple too. And there’ll be more work related travel once our baby turns 1. I didn’t quit blogging or had a break when I found out that I was pregnant. I continued to blog but I published more photo posts and shorter posts. There will definitely be a short blogging pause once I give birth (which could be within a month and a half ) but hopefully after a month or two I’ll have the time/energy to post something. I haven’t turned this blog into a baby/mummy blog and I won’t do that later on. It’ll still be a travel blog but I won’t be writing about any new trips for some time. However, there will be a couple of baby posts too :).
Welcome to my blog!:)
Are you passionate about travel? Have you got your travel blog? Would you like to write a guest post for the Red Phone Box travels?
I have only a few conditions for my potential guest blogger:
- Write about TRAVEL ( travel story, travel tips, review of a destination or write about your hometown-if I haven’t visited it! ) but I don’t need hotel or restaurant reviews
- Please write about a destination I haven’t written about 🙂 you could write about anywhere outside Europe but if you want to write about an European country please check my Categories or Places I’ve visited page so that you don’t submit a post about a topic I already covered
- Your post should contain at least 4 good-quality photos (your photographs!) and be at least 400 words long
I don’t think that I’m too difficult to please, so if you’re interested let me know!
February. A lot has happened in the shortest month of the year. But I can’t tell you anything just yet. 🙂 Anyway, I finished my course. Now I have to study a lot since I have to pass 9 exams in April. But then I’ll get my new licence. What is it? I’ll tell you in April. Also, I had to postpone my trip to Munich because of the exams so hopefully we’ll manage to go to Germany in May instead of late March. I didn’t blog much because I didn’t have a lot of free time. To be perfectly honest, I also kind of lost my motivation for blogging. However, I opened Instagram account for this blog!:) Yay! And I’m totally hooked already. Have you seen my post on postcards exchange? Would you like to get involved? If you want to send & receive pretty postcards get in touch with me via email at email@example.com.
How was your February?

Who still sends postcards?
I finally did it! 🙂 I’ve just opened Instagram account for my blog. I know, I’m entering a brave new world. I’m so confused and I hate my phone but hopefully I’ll manage to upload something on a daily basis. I’m still trying to find and follow all my favourite bloggers. You’re welcome to leave your Instagram details in the comments section below and I’ll have a look at your Instagram profile and I’ll probably follow you:) I don’t usually take photos with my phone when I’m travelling so I don’t have that many good photos to upload but hopefully I’ll manage to transfer some of my rather nice travel photos from my PC to my phone:) Ok, that might be cheating but what can I do? I want to share all my travel photos with you!
So come along, follow me on Instagram! I know you want to 🙂 Thanks!

I wrote about Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk last month
January. I’m not one of those people who make some special new year’s resolution and then forget all about it by the end of January. But I’d like to feel/be more optimistic this year. I used to be so happy-go-lucky when I was younger. I don’t know why I became so cynical and even bitter and afraid of trying out new things. However, I did start this blog a year and a half ago (almost). Moreover, I enrolled at a course two weeks ago and I’ve already started attending the lectures. I won’t tell you just yet what it is but it’s definitely related to travel 🙂 And I’ve cut my hair! It’s again as short as it was when I went to Brussels two years ago. So, actually a lot of changes in January. Also, I’ve booked a hotel in Munich, Germany but I’m not so sure that we’ll actually go there at the end of March. Somehow I lost my travel mojo 😦 . Thus, I’m not sure if there’s a point in travelling at all if I feel like that. Hopefully I’ll change my mind by March. I mean, I’ve been thinking about visiting Munich for so long….
I probably won’t have a lot of time for blogging during February but I’ll see how I’ll manage. Thanks for sticking around 🙂 So, in case you missed them:

Who would have thought that I would write constantly for almost a year and a half? I certainly didn’t think so when I hit publish for the first time back in 2015. And here I am now, 132 posts later, looking back at 2016 on my blog. Firstly, I’d like to thank all my readers and followers! 🙂 Your support means a lot to me, especially since only a handful of my friends know about my travel blog. I don’t have a lot of travel plans for 2017 actually. My first and foremost travel goal is to finally visit Munich, Germany. But I’ll wait for a month or so until I make any real travel arrangements. After that, if I find a good deal, a cheap flight or if I suddenly want to visit badly some place, I’ll go. If not, I’ll stay at home. Travel isn’t everything! That’s one lesson I learnt the hard way in 2016. Anyway, I still haven’t written about all of my travels from 2016 (and earlier) and I want to continue to write my blog series Discover Croatia. So, there’ll be plenty of new posts in 2017! 🙂

Advent Wreath in Opatija
December. To be honest I felt more festive in November than in December. I mean, I attended two lovely Christmas events at the last weekend of November and I visited a chocolate festival in Opatija at the first weekend of December. But then I had another business trip and some other unpleasant obligations and my 33rd birthday. I so wasn’t looking forward to that! I felt like I didn’t accomplish much in the past year but in the end I had three lovely birthday meals so it wasn’t that bad after all. 🙂 Christmas was spent with family and I have so many sweets in my cupboard right now. I hope you had peaceful and joyful holidays too! I’m looking forward to 2017. I think I deserve some happy news finally!
