My 9 years of travel blogging

2023 on the Red Phone Box travels
In London, December 2023

The Red Phone Box travels blog is 9 years old today!

It’s hard to believe that it has been 9 years since I embarked on this incredible blogging journey. Blogging about my travels and life on The Red Phone Box travels is still my favourite pastime. I could have never imagined that I’d celebrate 9th blogiversay when I hit publish button on my first ever blog post A true love lasts a lifetime…the story of my London on 31 August 2015. Of course, frequency of blogging and the type of content has changed somewhat throughout the last 9 years but my travel blog is still online.

I owe a lot of to you, my fellow readers and followers and blog friends. I have always enjoyed our interaction and your support. Thank you for all the comments and likes.

What started initially as a travel blog predominately about my London trips and other adventures around Europe turned also in a sort of personal diary through my monthly update posts. When I started a family, I decided to share some of our family adventures here as well: I blogged about our family day trips around Croatia and abroad. I used to write immediately upon returning from a trip but in the past few years life has taken over, so it usually takes me a few months or a year or even two to post about some of our trips. Never mind, writing about my trips is a great way to relive my memories. Besides, my travel blog is my personal blog and not a travel guidebook. I just hope that some of my posts have inspired you to visit some of the lesser known places in Croatia or that they have given you some ideas for sightseeing in some of the beautiful European cites that I have visited and blogged about.

If you have just stumbled upon this blog, you might want to check my About page and the links to some personal posts there if you want to know more about me. Or you could just check my Places I’ve visited page to see where I’ve been so far. In a nutshell, I’m a 40 year old married woman with 2 kids who is still passionate about travel and her first true love London. Anyway, you could also read my other blogiversary posts if you have some extra free time:

My long time blog friends have been with me for the past 9 or 7 or 5 years or less…it doesn’t really matter. Maybe you’ve read only a handful of my posts or all 524 that I’ve posted so far. However, to all of you I’d like to say:

Once again, thank you for being a part of this incredible 9-year adventure – here’s to many more years of blogging ahead!

Cheers!

xoxo

Tanja

  1. […] My daughter has learnt how to swim by the end of the summer. We had a wonderful day trip by ferry to the sandy beach on Rab island. Kids loved it! Even though I didn’t have any proper holidays this summer I did manage to get three days off, so we went to a spa hotel in northern Croatia. We enjoyed a small outdoors water park and indoors thermal pools. It was quite a relaxing experience. End of Augusts marks my wedding anniversary and my blogging anniversary too. I’ve been blogging for more than 9 years! […]

  2. Oh yes, that first hit of the publish button – if only you’d known then, eh? I think this is a hobby that can shape our lives in many ways – digital skills, storytelling, photography, global awareness, even therapeutically…. 💚💜 I’m so happy we’re in the same blogosphere and became buddies! Happy birthday to your 9-year-old! 🥳🤩

  3. Congratulations! It must be nice to look back and see how much has changed, esp with your growing family. On a totally irrelevant note … have Red Phone Boxes changed much over the last 9 years? Here in Canada I couldn’t find a public phone if I tried. I imagine it’s the same in UK?

    1. There are only a few functioning red telephone boxes in the UK. Some are converted to mini libraries, defibrilator points, tiny cafes, wifi spots while others are empty and broken. Very sad indeed. Thanks Sandy for your congratulations

  4. Wow, nine years! You’re almost there to a decade of blogging! I think I started following you since the start of the pandemic (how time flies!), and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading about your love for London, as well as your recent trips closer to home in Croatia, Slovenia, and Germany. Also appreciate the monthly life updates to check in with us…my 10-year blogiversary won’t be for another two years, but I strive to stay consistent and create as quality content as yours! Thanks for sharing, Tanja, and have a wonderful day!
